The Bloatarian Brewing League in conjunction with the Cincy Brewery District and the Moerlein Lager House presents Bockfest 2023

Bockfest is Cincinnati's celebration of all things Bock! The full festival is the weekend of March 3-5, but judging for this homebrew competition takes place the prior weekend, on Saturday, February 25th. This competition is limited to Bock styles only. In addition, as in the past the Dunkles (Traditional) bock entries will be judged by two separate panels. There will be the standard BJCP-style judging, but there will be an additional group of experienced judges, brewers, and special guests that will evaluate the beers in a Best of Show format. The winner of this second panel will be invited to the Moerlein Lager House in 2024 to brew their recipe to be featured as the Schoenling Bock to be served at the 2024 Bockfest!
Judging will be held once again at the Liberty Home Association, 2361 Hamilton Cleves Rd, Hamilton, OH 45013. There will once again be a chili and soup competition following the beer judging (details TBA), and beer judges will be welcome to taste those entries.

Best of Show and Best of Show Runner Up awarded
The Schoenling Bock winner will have their recipe brewed by the Moerlein Lager House in early 2024, and featured during Bockfest 2024 as that year's "Schoenling Bock". The winning brewer is invited to participate with the brewmaster of the Moerlein Lager House to prepare for and brew the winning recipe.
Awards
First, Second and Third Place in each flight. Flights will be determined by competition staff based on number of entries received, and categories may be combined or split at the sole discression of competition staff.

Entrants may enter categories and sub-categories as many times as they wish. However, an entrant may only place one entry per sub-category.
Winners will be announced immediately following the completion of judging, on the 25th. However, as much as possible we would like all of the medal winners to attend an additional ceremony the following Friday during the tapping of the 2022 Bockfest winner. These announcements will be made at the Moerlein Lager House at 3:00, which allows sufficient time for you to also participate in the Bockfest opening parade.
